Teotihuacan, Guadalupe, and sushi

We were all looking forward to our sightseeing today! We were up and breakfasted early to catch our Uber to Teotihuacan.

We were on site by 1030am and brother-in-law, J, & G were climbing the Pyramid of the Sun. Husband and I passed (he is a bit scared of heights and I was not in any physical shape to tackle it).

On their way down

We followed the boulevard to the Pyramid of the Moon.

Which we all climbed (except for husband). The views were gorgeous.

Going up the Moon

Back down to earth and reunited, we walked over to the Museum.

Although husband and I visited this site on our first trip (4/2018), we hadn't explored the Temple of the Feathered Serpent, so there we went.

It was lunch time so we settled ourselves into the restaurant on site. Husband had to try crickets and the rest of us got more normal snacks.

After a few tries, we were able to get two Uber cars to take us to our next stop: Basilica de Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe. Husband and I were taken through an area where you could see a pretty arched wall, a brewery, and other interesting sights.

The old Basilica de Guadalupe (started in 1695 and finished in 1709) is very pretty but very out of level. It's like climbing up hill from the door to the altar. We laughed when a coin went downhill so fast we could almost not catch it.

We wandered the pretty grounds before going into the new Basilica.

The new Basilica was built in the 1970's and is a beautiful, big, modern sanctuary. The altar can be seen from all viewpoints. I think there is always a mass going on. It's a pilgrimage point for Mexicans.

We caught Uber back to the hotel to relax before dinner at Nobu in Polanco.

We had enjoyed our Nobu dinner when in Hawaii in 2013 and looked forward to this experience.

The restaurant was very pretty, the staff very helpful, the food very good. I don't eat raw so I passed on most of the food but everyone else loved everything.

Back to the hotel satisfied after another great day in Mexico City.

Next: A castle, a museum, great food, and rooftop hangout
