First day/night in CDMX

Saturday, January 19, 2019

After husband and my fantastic trip to Mexico City in April, 2018, we couldn't stop talking it up to all of our friends and family. We knew we wanted to return and decided January around my birthday would be a great time for a second trip. Our friends, J & G, with whom we'd visited Vienna, Prague, and Dresden for the Christmas markets in December 2016 http://herewegoagain-viennaprague2016.blogspot.com/2016/12/introduction.html, and brother-in-law decided to come along.

One big item on the agenda was food, particularly dining at Pujol and Quintonil.

The flight from New Orleans to Houston to CDMX was easy. In no time, we were settled into our beautiful rooms at the Hilton Reforma. We had access to the Executive Lounge for breakfast and happy hour.

We relaxed a bit then had a delicious early dinner at El Cardenal in the hotel lobby.

Then we took a walk through the Centro Historico to Arena Coliseo for Lucha Libre.

It was still early so we scored some really nice seats. The arena did not fill up.  No one knew what to expect, I mean it's Mexican wrestling. But it sure was fun! It was totally fake but the wrestlers were amazingly athletic and knew how to entertain the crowd, which was very into the spectacle. Some chants included "Quinceanera" and "sushi." Hilarious! We'll definitely go back!

We walked back to the hotel and crashed, but not before admiring the nighttime view from our very nice room!

Next: Centro Historico, Saints football, and drowning our sorrows.
